What to wear on Valentine’s Day

organic heart collection by H&M bolero jacket dress swedish love affairI know couples that don’t celebrate Valentine’s. This is what the usually say:
- Oh, we don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day – we don’t need anyone telling us when to be romantic with each other!

- Or Every day is a celebration of our love, not just one day a year!
- Or We are not going to exchange presents just because it’s Valentine’s – we like to be spontaneous with presents!
- Or even It’s a commercial holiday, they just want us to spend money!.

Well, I’ve heard all that – and I’m quite spontaneous too – but to me, the more holidays the better. And why not do something fun together that one extra time?

As for the Valentine’s outfit, I think it’s better to go for a sweet rather than sexy look.
Wear hearts! Or if you still have your red Christmas dress, then wear red. As we know red is the color of love and passion, and what’s more appropriate than that?

Happy Valentines in advance. My BF is actually most likely going to be working over V-day so its a bummer for me! :S

Thank you! When I saw that it’s all organic I could kind of justify this purchase for myself=)
Happy Valentines! Yes, I think many people will be working then, since it’s a Monday=/

Oh, I love the idea of going ‘sweet’ rather than ‘sexy’! I wonder if I have any clothes with a heart print… must check. Sadly my bf is not in the same country as me so we don’t really have an option as to whether we want to celebrate or not!

One of my old boyfriends did this to me once. I was pretty excited when Valentine’s Day came, and expected something nice from him. But the whole day went, without him giving me anything. I was getting more and more upset, and in the end I asked him:
“So, aren’t you getting me a Valentine’s present?”, and he said something like:
“Oh, I don’t want to get you anything today, it’ll be like it’s because I have to, since it’s Valentine’s. I’d rather give you spontaneously, some other day. When you don’t feel like you’re forced to do it.”
While I don’t really agree with this logic, I can see that for some people it might make some sense. The thing was just that he never, ever gave me any spontaneous presents. Not once, during the three years we were together. And every Valentine’s the same subject came up, with the same result. So I have learned not to expect too much out of it. I hope Hannes gives you something nice, though!

Thanks for sharing! I have a feeling that most couple who “love spontaneous presents” never actually give each other spontaneous presents. And also, why not give each other spontaneous presents AND Valentine’s presents?

I’ve never really seen anything wrong with Valentine’s Day… I suppose it can be lonely if you don’t have someone to celebrate with, but when you’re in a relationship, I can’t think of a rationalisation for not celebrating. If every day truly is a celebration of your love for someone, why exclude February 14th?

My bf and I have been using as a great excuse to try new restaurants we wouldnt try otherwise. We usually give each other silly gifts for vday….but we’re actually pretty good about having romantic dinners and gifts even when its not valentines day. :-)
