Unfortunately, the weather has been rather horrible today, on Midsommar, so this year my family celebrated midsummer a bit different from tradition. Instead of dancing around the maypole and eating herring, we went to Varberg, a city south of Gothenburg.
We visited the bathhouse, where you alternate between taking a swim in the cold ocean and sitting in a sauna to get warm again. As everyone there is naked, the areas for men and women are separated. Me and my family were the only ones there, so it was really calm and cozy to sit in a sauna instead of out in the rain. The bathing procedure where the body gets cooled down and then heated up again and again is extremely invigorating. I wouldn’t like to do this too often, but once a year or so is really nice.
If you ever visit Sweden and get the chance to visit one of these cold bath houses (kallbadhus), I highly recommend you do so.
Happy Midsummer!

I could not do that naked! Sounds strange to me!
There is no way I could do that – even if the only people around me are women and related to me. I get skeeved out seeing people go into the gym jacuzzi naked. Urg, the germs!!!!
For me bathing combined with sauna is a perfect method of relaxation. Especially helpful when I need to harmonize my thoughts
But I try not to overdo it.
Wow, this looks wonderful. I love bathing naked, maybe I’ll go sometime.
