Three tips for a long-lasting manicure and nice nails:
- If you want the nail polish on your nails to last longer, try applying a new layer of top coat every other day or so. This way it may last for up to two weeks!
- If you get a chip on one of the nails, but don’t have the time repaint it, smooth over that area with some nail polish remover on a cotton ball. Then apply a new coat of polish.
- I often read that you have to remove oils from the nails before painting them. However, I’ve never experienced that a manicure lasts longer if I do that. What really helps me to prolong the life of a manicure is the opposite. I rub a little oil into my nails and cuticles around ten minutes before applying the base coat. It really works! I usually use jojoba or almond oil.

Thanks for the tips! Love all those colors!
I never thought of rubbing oil before polish o.O I mean, I do rub some oil while doing my manicure but I wait around 10 minutes for it to get soaked in and then wash my hands. Next time I won’t wash them and try your way
Nina, this was shocking news to me when I first heard it! Rubbing in oil before painting my nails seems crazy (used to do it when the nail polish is dry already). But then I tried it:)
I agree about the oils! I rub some Lush Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter into them and let it sink in as I’m cutting and filing, and I never find that it makes the nail polish come off sooner.
All these nail pics are stunning, by the way!
Exactly my point, Leia! I’m glad you agree:) I really need to try that Lemony Flutter you keep talking about!
Bra tips å nice pics!
great pictures…I have to buy a topcoat!

Great tips, I’ve got to get some jojoba and try your way
thank you! I’ve always loved your nails!
Oh, thanks, Ylenia:) I hope it helps!
Good tips! A tip that worked realy well for me is: use a good basecoat. I use ‘Trind nail repair’ or a drug store nail harderer as a basecoat and eversince my polish hardly chips! I love the pretty pictures you take from your nail polish. I’m going to try to make arty pics of my nails some time soon too, you inspired me!
Thank you, Annelien! I couldn’t agree more with you when it comes to base coat! To me, it’s even more important than top coat. I’m always looking for a good base, right now it’s Orly Bonder. I’ll try out the Trind base too, if I get the chance. So far, I’ve only tried their cuticle remover and I liked it!
Love the colors. Thank you for the tips. I like how you match the colors on your nails with your outfits. Very creative
