Thoughts on flea markets

This Sunday I woke up really early, almost as early as Hannes (and normally he goes up two or three hours before me), and told him that I’d like to visit a flea market. I don’t do it very often, but when I do I think it’s fun. So he drove me to three(!) different flea markets.

Of course, you have to be in the right state of mind to enjoy a flea market. Don’t believe people who tell you that it’s easy to find great deals there. No. The prices are very low, that’s true, but I was amazed by the amount of rubbish people are selling! Especially when it comes to clothes. As you know, I throw out and donate my things every now and then, but the things I get rid of are literally in new condition compared to what people are trying to sell sometimes! To be honest, I would be embarrassed to offer people things like that for free, let alone sell them.
However, if you’re good (and if you get there early), you can find some really beautiful things for almost no money at all.

I love flea markets! I know what you mean, though. Sometimes I almost get offended by the stuff they are trying to sell me. But then again, I often see someone coming up from behind: “how much for these smelly old socks? ” It’s true what they say, I guess. One man’s trash is another’s treasure :)

I love flea markets and antique markets so much! however here in the US they’re quite expensive, at least compared to the ones in Sweden!

I was just at one last Saturday! It was the first time I went to one in Shanghai. There’s not such a love of vintage or second hand items here, but I found some great little scarves and an amazing sting ray bag (but it was a bit expensive. ;( ). Great post.
