Budapest is known as the spa capitol of the world, and today we finally made our way to the city’s biggest bath house, Széchenyi Thermal Bath and Spa. They have 15 different pools with varying temperatures and different compositions of fluoride, calcium, sulphate, metabolic acid, magnesium, hydro-carbonate and alkalises. The hottest swimming pool had a temperature of 36°C, or 97°F, and many of them smelled faintly of rotten eggs.
It was very interesting and fun, and I can recommend Széchenyi if you’re visiting Budapest and want to experience their thermal baths. They also had underwater gymnastics classes, classic massage and water-jet massage.

I am loving all of your photos and stories from Budapest Antonia! I was there about three years ago and just LOVED it! We had so many fun adventures…one of which was spending the day at Széchenyi. Seeing your beautiful photos now brings back a lot of great memories for me.

p.s. Cafe Girbaud is pretty great, isn’t it? I remember indulging on some yummy sweets!
