Sweden out of UEFA European Chamspionship 2012

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Glenn Johnson

My favorite player Zlatan Ibrahimovic battling Glenn Johnson for possesion.

Sadly, Sweden lost the game to England tonight. We now have no chance of getting through to the next round, which means that we’re out of the 2012 European Championship.
Tonight’s game was a real nail-biter. England scored first, but then Sweden made two goals in quick succession. We almost scored a third time and it seemed obvious that we would win, but instead England made two more goals to win the match by 3-2. So close!

Sweden still has one match left to play in the championship, against France, but no matter how well we will play then, there’s no chance of avoiding elimination. I’ll be watching and cheering them on all the same, though.

Sweden scores, Zlatan taunts the English goalie, Hart.

I was cheering for Sweden as well. They fought so hard and the Swedish fans were so lovely and spirited, and it was such a close game! I couldn’t believe England took home the win. The Swedish team will be missed!

I watched the game too, and as I’ve said before, I was for Sweden. I’ve expected a tough battle – which it turned out to be – but unfortunately, not with an end result I would have liked. (Ibrahimović was truly playing excellently, though, he was really the best Swedish player.)

I just returned from visiting friends in Danmark, where I got to see them play their first two games… and we were cheering on Sweden, too! Love the football culture and had so much fun at all the football parties. Sad Sweden isn’t moving forward… although I’ll be cheering for Danmark on Sunday and watching the game from the States!
