Secrets of applying nail polish and Mavala Jasper 240 swatch

After all this time I still get a lot of questions about painting nails. The most frequently asked one at the moment is how to apply nail polish without getting it all over the skin around the nails. Do I have any secrets for flawless application?
Of course I don’t. I don’t have any special methods or any stencils for applying nail polish. The only secret there is is practice practice practice! You can do it.

Um, I asked that question too and I’m afraid I have to disagree to your answer, because I practiced for a really long time and I still effing suck at applying nail polish :( Gaah, I’m just gonna stay clumsy for the rest of my life I think >.< Oh, the curse of trying to use my left hand efficiently…

  5. Anastasia says:

I also have this shade of Mavala, but I’m not satisfied with the quality at all. Are you? But the colour is soooo beautiful! :D

    • Antonia says:

In fact, yes, I am! I put it on in Gothenburg before going to Rome and it lasted throughout the whole trip, and I wasn’t careful with it exactly. What are you issues with it?

      • Anastasia says:

Wow! The main issue is that it’s not long-lasting enough. :( And it takes a long time untill it’s dry. Probably, it works well with your nail polish dry, which one do you use? But the colour choice is great and the volume is good- not too much.

P.S. I’ve bought Take the day off by Clinique after you’d recommended it and I absolutely love it! Thank you, Antonia! :D

I’m happy my advice was helpful! I’m glad you like it:)
As for the quick dry top coat, I use the one by Mavala (Minute Quick Finish) and one by Sally Hansen in the red bottle. Both of them are good.

  6. Laura says:

Cool pictures Antonia! You wrote a post a while ago about nail care that I liked a lot. Now I try to eat before I paint my nails (so I dont get hungry/thristy) and sit still and watch a movie while the polish dries ;D

Also! I just discovered nail buffers! Omg, they make bare nails so shiny! :D

  7. Leia says:

You’re so right! When I was younger, I was awful at applying nailpolish. It was always lumpy and bumpy and all over the place. But with practise, I improved! I still get polish on my skin, but that’s not a problem, I just wait till it’s dry and then wash my hands and it’s all gone.

  8. So beautiful nails! Practice and taking all your time too! Don’t stress
Kisses and I love your blog!
