Russian shawl from Pavlovsky Posad: Lilac in Bloom

The third present in mum’s package today was a Russian shawl I’ve been dreaming about! It comes from a city in Russia called Pavlovsky Posad (Павловский Посад), where they’ve been making the traditional Russian shawls for almost two hundred years. Every shawl pattern has it’s own author, and mine is designed by one of the most prominent authors of the factory, Klara Zinovjeva (Клара Зиновьева). This was the last pattern she’d ever designed before she died in 2010. It’s called Lilac in Bloom (“Цветёт сирень”).

The shawls are 100% wool with fringes of silk.

This is what this shawl looks like on their official site. I think it’s even more beautiful in real life!

oh. my. godness. I’m too jelaous for words right now. that’s like the most beautiful thing I’ve seen, love these shawls. I was stupid enough to wash my own (got it from my brothers russian ex- girlfriend) in too hot water, didn’t realize it was wool and of course it shrinked! I will always regret it, it was one of those classic black ones with red roses and it matched EVERYTHING I think. buhu. =(
