Reading Under Orders by Dick Francis

My class got canceled today, so instead I spent the day reading the thriller Under Orders by British author Dick Francis.  The suspense was incredible and I just couldn’t put the book down. I just finished it.
Mr. Frances is one of my favorite mystery authors. Like all of his books, Under Orders is about horse racing and steeplechase. Dick Francis himself was a famous jockey (he even raced on the horses of the Royal House!) so he basically wrote about his own world.

He was 86 years old when he finished writing this book year 2006, and I find it quite impressive that a man of that age could write such a lively and modern novel. When his wife passed away, he didn’t write a new book for several years, and Under Orders was his first novel after her death. It was also one of his last novels. He wrote four more books before his death in 2010. I used to read every book he wrote as soon as it came out, but now all I can do is reread his works.

I have never read any of his books, but after your review today I think I am going to start. Thank you for the recommendation. Happy back to school!
