Painting nails can be a tricky business. You have to be careful not to smudge anything, and the polish must be applied evenly. Most important is that it gets to set properly before you need to do anything with your hands, for instance rummage through your purse because your phone is ringing. Even if you’re using a quick-dry top coat, there are still going to be a few crucial minutes where you need to be completely still. This requires you to be well prepared, so I’ve developed a kind of strategy.
- First, decide on which nail polish you’re going to use and prepare any tools you might need.
- Have a fruit or a sandwich before starting, so you won’t get hungry while waiting for the nail polish to dry.
- If you have a dog, take it for a walk shortly before starting
- Prepare something to watch on TV or the computer, since you’ll need to sit still for quite some time.
This list might seem a bit extreme, but I know that if one of these points aren’t taken care of before, there’s a risk you’ll have no choice but to do it with wet nail lacquer. And if one nail gets smudged, you’ll have to do everything all over again.
Always be prepared!
