Preparations for painting nails

Painting nails can be a tricky business. You have to be careful not to smudge anything, and the polish must be applied evenly. Most important is that it gets to set properly before you need to do anything with your hands, for instance rummage through your purse because your phone is ringing. Even if you’re using a quick-dry top coat, there are still going to be a few crucial minutes where you need to be completely still. This requires you to be well prepared, so I’ve developed a kind of strategy.

  • First, decide on which nail polish you’re going to use and prepare any tools you might need.
  • Have a fruit or a sandwich before starting, so you won’t get hungry while waiting for the nail polish to dry.
  • If you have a dog, take it for a walk shortly before starting
  • Prepare something to watch on TV or the computer, since you’ll need to sit still for quite some time.

This list might seem a bit extreme, but I know that if one of these points aren’t taken care of before, there’s a risk you’ll have no choice but to do it with wet nail lacquer. And if one nail gets smudged, you’ll have to do everything all over again.
Always be prepared!

These are all great tips! I’ve never actually thought of having everything planned out and ready before hand which is odd since it always takes me like 3 tries to get my nailpolish perfect.

These are all great tips :)
I sometimes have problems like this, that result in my polish getting ruined. But I usually don’t do it all over again, I just live with it. But it sucks having a bad manicure for several days, so I will pay attention to your advice :)

  3. I always manage to mess up my nails, every single time! I’ve learned that less is more, I think that my long drying periods were due to too thick of coats. It is good to prepare though! (Not right before you run out the door, like I have done in the past. Takes time and patience!)

I love the part about the food. You do always end up feeling hungry halfway through! If there’s not another person around who can get you something to eat, that is.

I don’t think your list is extreme at all! I love drinking a cup of tea while doing my nails, but I have learned that this is not a good practise, because soon I will have to use the bathroom and that usually results in smudged nails.

Just then I was about to change the color of my nails, and I thought while I see an episode of Grey’s Anatomy, one of my favorite series. So I make sure I do it all more bearable and entertain me while doing my exercises;) I never prepare a sandwich, but I thought it was a proactive measure so funny!

I say goodbye to “Grape pop” of China Glaze and say hello to “Perfect” by Dior.

    A kiss Antonia!
