Never Mind Nirvana

good books nick hornby swedish love affairAnswering the question Are you Nirvana or Pearl Jam? I’d definitely pick Nirvana. I’m a big fan and I used to listen to them a lot as a teenager. And I still do.

If you, like me, are into music, if you enjoy reading, if you dig Nirvana and Pearl Jam or if you simply like Nick Hornby, but you’ve already read all of his books and want to find something in the same style – here is to you. Never Mind Nirvana by Mark Lindquist is a very good book that reminds a lot of Nick Hornby’s High Fidelity. Still, it’s not a wannabe, although it has a somewhat similar atmosphere, it also has a very distinctive (American) touch to it.

Having said that, all of the books I’m holding in this photo are great. I just grabbed the ones by Nick Hornby from my bookshelf, and some other authors came along, too.
Promise at dawn is absolutely fantastic.

What an honor!.. Thank you very much, Mr. Lindquist! This is so surreal. You’re one of my absolute favorite writers, and right now I’m in the middle of “The King of Methlehem” which I’m reading for the third time.
I can’t describe how glad and overwhelmed I was to see you comment on my blog. I’ve been thinking about it all day.

      Respectfully yours,

Du saknar Aboute a Boy, har du läst den? :)
Han Mark Lindquist, är han svensk författare? För jag hittar bara boken du nämnde på svenska och då heter den “Bortom Nirvana” :/
Jag ska snart ge mig på A Brave New World.

    • Antonia says:

Det är inte alla jag har=) Ja, jag har läst den.
Mark Lindquist är amerikan (fast man anar ju svenska rötter), och boken heter “Bortom Nirvana” på svenska, så du har hittat rätt!

I love Nick Hornby! Only book I haven’t read yet is Juliet, Naked. I’m sort of saving it for when I will feel the need for a really good book. Maybe on my next vacation :)
I will make sure to check out the Nirvana book as well, love them too!

For my first time just one simple question …what’s the nail color you used in the picture above? I have been looking for a perfect peach for myself. This may be the one!

    Keep smiling and keep posting!

Thank for this advice, Antonia! Thanks to you I’ve discovered a great new book. I was at the library when I read your post, so I borrowed Never Mind Nirvana right away. By now I’m half way through it, and it’s amazing. Now I’m planning to read Sad Movies and Lindquist’s latest book, King something..
