Here’s my best book tip (ever). If you for some reason haven’t read Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome yet, then it’s really time to do it now. If you have, then it might be time to do it again.
I got my first copy of this book from my mum when I was about ten years old. By now I’ve read it 30+ times and I kind of know it by heart. It’s not a very long book, yet I never get tired of it. It’s simply the best book I know.
On a different note, I’ve already started eating Christmas gingerbread. The ones you can see here are soft baked and covered in dark chocolate – so lovely.

I meandered into a used book store looking for turn of the century romance novels which happen to be one of my favorite genres…and the clerk at the store pointed me in the direction of this book. It took me awhile to pick it up once I brought it home, I must admit, but by the time I started I knew I was in for a treat. I think I howled with laughter through much of it but it also has the added bonus of making you think! I particularly loved the hedge maze part and the musings on whether or not things they held current would become antiques (and the answer to JKJ is…yes!).
PS: I’ve never thought about making chocolate covered gingerbread! Brilliant idea!
Elizabeth, I’m so glad you liked it too! There might be no romance in it, but the humor is absolutely brilliant! I love all of his books, but this one is special.
Oh, you know, I didn’t make those!..:))) I bought them!
Haven’t read this book yet, but it sounds like a true masterpiece! (^-^ )
I wish I could have a taste of those gingerbreads, don’t think they make them like that here
Will visit the library tomorrow and look for it, if it’s open on Sundays
It is! I hope you’ll find it, Anna!
I Don´t know if there will be a Spanish version of the book, but I promise to get it!
This sounds like a fun book. I am going to look for it.
Одна из моих самых любимых книг! Могу открыть с любого места и начать читать:) Хоть на русском, хоть на английском, одно время развлекалась – сравнивала шутки, пока наизусть не выучила))
И фильм советский с Андреем Мироновым очень люблю)
I haven’t read the book, although I have heard about the author. Since you recommend it, I will certainly give it a try
