I’ve recently hit the pan on one of my favorite cream blushes by Face Stockholm. This almost never happens to me, since I’ve got so much make-up that it’s impossible to finish anything. I feel proud and satisfied with myself completely out of proportion to this event.
Have you ever hit the pan on any of your make-up products? If so, what was it?
.
By the way, Hannes was around when I was taking this photo. When he saw it, he congratulated me on having “tapped that pan”. I hadn’t realized that Hannes was even vaguely familiar with this concept, but I explained to him that it’s not called “tap that pan”, but “hit the pan”. I appreciate that he tries to keep track of my interests, but his phrase sounded a bit awkward to me.
I try and think of hitting the pan as being a labor of love. It means that product is so good you keep using it! The only thing that bothers me is when I get to the bottom in a palette, especially if I’m not where close to the bottom with the other colors in there.

I have the same feelings about hitting the pan! It feels like well-invested money:) I’ve only hit the pan in one eyeshadow palette once, it was a my first make-up item ever! The palette was from Estee Lauder, and the shadow was powdery pink:)
It happens to me very often, actually. I made it a rule to buy a product only after finishing the one I have. But it’s not related to lipsticks, eye shadows and nail polishes.
I love that rule! If only I could stick to it! I’ve kind of given up on the nail polishes and let myself go wild in this area, but the never-ending powder products bother me quite a lot:)
There are a few products that I have used up completely, and have to stock up on! I always run out of concealer since I use it on a daily basis. And I know it dosen’t count as hitting the pan, but I couldn’t even count how many eyeliners and mascaras I have gone through!
Mascara and concealers don’t really count in my book, because for me those are “boring” make-up products, and buying this kind of things is almost as fun as buying groceries:)) I finish them all the time too! Blushes, highlighters and eyeshadows are the toughest ones to finish!
Blushes are impossible to finish :/
I’m glad we agree. This way, there’s no need to try to. If I only buy a new blush when I finish an old one, I might end up using the same blush throughout my life. And I wouldn’t want to!
Exactly! And who doesn’t like having a ‘nice and pretty’ selection of options. We girls do like pretty colors and packages =)
Yes, we need a lot of options:) Unfortunately, nobody else sees any difference between them when applied, except us:)
hahahaha! Thats so funny. I will say ‘tap the pan’ from now on. I ‘tapped the pan’ on my Bobbi Brown concealer and powder duo recently as well. As a full time student and a part time job, I cannot leave the house without it. Otherwise, I look like a racoon.
“Tap that pan, girl!”:)) hahaha
Yeah, powder makes all the difference for me. I’ve always wanted to try that duo, as I’ve seen so many people rave about it!
I hit pan on all my go-to blushes which are NARS Orgasm and MAC Peachykeen
) it’s a sign that you apparently need the product so often
but also a sign that it’s about time to prepare to buy a new one
This!! When I hit the pan on a product I feel like I’m almost done with it and need a new one asap! And most of the time there is still more than half of it left in the pan!
Haha yes I bought new ones of those blushes right away but now after 3 months I still haven’t finished the previous ones. Silly ^^
It is silly, but I can’t judge you, Melinda! What a strange nature we have, we really need to stock up. Because, of course, the end of all blushes in the world will come any day now.
I have so many excess stuff in my room that, I have to be careful when I buy an extra piece. This also applies to make-up. Therefore, I like hitting the pan because, it means I will be able to buy somthing new
And I like using them up.
I recently finished a pressed powder by the body shop.
You’re absolutely right! And I love using them up too, in theory!
A few months ago I hit the pan on my MAC Blot Powder, but that’s it :/ I seem to use up cream products in tubes and mascaras more easily. The only thing that I regularly finish and buy again is eye pencil. I love my eye pencils ^^ By the way, I think Hannes’ term is not that bad =)
I don’t know, I think his term sounds a bit dirty. But maybe that’s just me:))
I buy a new mascara every 3-4 months, because they just dry up on me! I’ve used up concealers, too. But when it comes to blushes!.. No matter how often I use them, they still look new. It’s crazy.
vilka väldigt fina färger.
just popping by to say that you have a very charming blog
and yes I have also finished alot of makeup products, for example a blusher from The Body Shop
To me always happens the same, hardly ever I come at the end of no product since I have much makeup. Only I usually come in the end with the compact powder but long ago that did not finish any because now I have and use several simultaneously. In any case, congratulations Antonia! I have never finished any rouge, it is my favorite product of makeup, and I have so many of them.
Could you have seen the makeup collection of Chanel for this spring? It is really beautiful!
I have already bought a gloss and the impressive rouge, recommend it to you!
Arantxa, of course it’s hard for you to finish anything, since you’re a beauty blogger! You don’t even have to try:)
I’ve seen the Chanel collection, it’s so lovely! And springy! I’m trying to hold back as hard as I can, because soon I’ll have no space for my make-up anymore! Or rather, no space for myself, because of all the make-up:)
eye shadows and favorite lipsticks…:)
Eye shadows?! Really?:)) You’re a beauty hero, Ilona.
hahah..i forgot to mention compact powders–I always finish those up, and foundations too. Yea.. I love makeup!
My Chanel eyeshadow quartet.. or actually on the lightest shade, wich i think always should be double the amount
Well, it’s good to know that all us makeup junkies are helping the economy go around! I too, rarely “hit pan” but I don’t like to. Makes me feel panicky that I have to race out and grab another before it’s discontinued and on to the next which may or may not be as good, who knows! It’s comforting to have lots to choose from because you never can predict what mood you’ll be in and what face you want to present to the world that day, according to the occasion, weather, season etc.

Congratulations on hitting the pan. I usually hit the pan on my finishing powders and blotting powders, but rarely blushes.
If you want a good stain, I’d recommend either Benefit’s Benetint or Tarte’s Natural Lip and Cheek stain. Both work very well and last most of the day on my skin.
