Mum bought a large green sky lantern for the New Year’s Eve.
I helped my stepdad to set the fuel cell on fire without damaging the paper.
Then we waited till the air inside of the lantern got warm enough.
But then we had to let it go!..
It flew up in the air above the roofs.
It rose higher and higher, and then disappeared in the fog, a few kilometers away.
when i was a little my mom taught me to make something lantern-ish from newspaper. we called it apollo. we folded a piece of newspaper into a triangle shape with air space inside. it could fly too, but instead of setting up fuel, we burned the end of every nook of the triangle. therefore it couldn’t fly too high because it would get totally burned fast. but i loved it.
