Now, as promised, a tutorial on an easy way to put on black eyeliner. And while the standard way of doing it takes a lot of practice, you can’t really fail with this one. The best thing about it is that you can do as thick or thin lines you want, and it will look flawless. A friend showed me this trick.

- a gel or liquid eyeliner (obviously, any color goes)
- a brush for applying (any eyeshadow or concealer brush, you don’t have to worry about it not being thin enough)
- a pair of scissors
- a piece of soft plastic. Here I’m using a bit of the packaging left from oranges.

Cut your plastic in two parts.

Cut out the shape of the “kitten flick” you want to achieve on your eyes. Cut through the both pieces of plastic at the same time. This way you’ll make sure the lines on your eyes are identical. This is usually my biggest problem when I apply eyeliner the traditional way. The lines on my both eyes look perfect, but totally different from each other!

I made two different types of lines (the first and the last picture of this post) to show you how you can vary the style of your flick. Now you know an easy way to put on black eyeliner. I hope this kitten flick with a stencil tutorial helps!

Good luck,

Antonia

PS. I’ve been asked to do a swatch of Bronze green 155 by Mavala. Here I’m wearing it on my nails.

So creative! I love it! I would have never thought of that! Great tutorial, Antonia! =)

This is incredible! Such a simple and effective tip! I have the same problem as you – I can make two perfect lines, but they don’t look exactly the same as each other. I will definitely try this!

  3. Never in my life have I seen such a technique. Clever!

  4. Melissa says:

Such a helpful technique! I’ve always drawn lines as if my lower eye lid extended out to the flick, so the angles on each eye would be equal. But the lines themselves were awful! Must try this next time.

Amazing! You are so beautiful, Antonia! Such a pretty face and your hands are exquisite=)
    Thanks for the tutorial!

THANK YOU! This is a great trick Antonia and I adore this style so much and I really suck at putting eye liner on (so I never do!) but now I will be trying this on and practice and experiment a bit! Did you like the Bobbi eye liner? Would you recommend it?

I’m so glad I could help!=))) Try it, it works even though it looks strange=)
The Bobbi Brown eyeliner is actually really good! Before I got this one I used to use a “gel” liner from Face Stockholm (which is supposed to be good), but it was so horrible! It dried to a small piece of black paint in one month, and not even pouring water in it helped=/

Antonia what a great technique! I am very impressed. I am SO tempted by the Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner, I have been hearing so much buzz about them. Great post all round!

So creative! I usually manage to do both my eyes identical, but it took me a lot of practice! This was such an easy trick, I wish I knew about it a couple of years ago!

Hi, this was an awesome idea and it totally works! I am also shocked to find someone else with the same name as me. Let me ask you, did people ever make the mistake of calling you Antonio or Antoinette? Happens to me all the time!
