Don’t look, I’m doing something

Every time Greger wants to lie down somewhere comfortable, he performs a kind of ritual. He spins round and round on the spot, and sometimes stomps hard at the surface as if he were pressing wine grapes. He does this to find the perfect spot and flatten it to make it as comfortable as possible. It looks like some kind of dance.
The funniest thing is that he’s quite shy about this. If you disturb him in any way, or if he catches you looking at him while he’s doing his pirouettes, he will get self-conscious and pretend he wasn’t doing anything at all.

I heard that that behavior is leftover from when dogs were wild and they would tramp down the tall grass in the fields to make a bed… who knows if that’s correct or not!
