Blue balloon and the Swedish way

acne leather jacket åhlens ahlens pantsI’ve been carrying a blue balloon instead of a purse today. No, well, this is how I look today. It’s a bit too cold for this kind of outfit, but I’m being optimistic.

Also, tonight I’ll be answering your e-mails! Sorry for being so slow, but I’ve been really busy all weekend.
I get many questions about Swedish everyday customs, cuisine and how to say things in Swedish. Three of my readers e-mailed me this weekend asking if it’s normal that the Swedish guys they’re dating want to split the restaurant bill, instead of paying for both. Or if it means he’s not interested. So, I’d say this is normal and he probably likes you anyway, it’s just the Swedish way, and maybe 8 out of 10 Swedish guys would split the bill or the price of the cinema tickets.

As for the preparations for the Valentine’s. I love you in Swedish is Jag älskar dig (Yawg elle-scar day), and you’ll find more phrases in Swedish here.

I love your outfit, Antonia! Sometimes the best looks come from being not quite properly dressed for the weather :) Your necklace is beautiful, and I love the cut of your pants.

You look absolutely adorable! I love the blue balloon and I really like the way your boots look with the cropped hemline.

You know, I’ve never been on a date where the boy has offered to split the bill. I always offer, but in this part of the world boys get offended if you don’t let them pay. I guess they always choose places where they can afford to pay for two! I really enjoy hearing about customs from all over the world. And thanks for the Swedish language lessons. Jag älskar Swedish Love Affair :) :)

I think I’ve been living in the U.S too long to remember that you actually split bills on dates… Over here things are definitely very old fashion but a little romantic too! Anyway, what a cute outfit! It looks a little cold for Sweden this time of year but I know how it is, sometimes you just don’t feel like a thick heavy jacket after months of using wear…

Hi beautiful! I’ve been a bit negligent in answering comments, but I’ve been so busy. I just wanted to tell you that yesterday I made gnocchi following your recipe, and they were fabolous!!! I lived in Italy one year (in Cagliari) and tried a lot of recipes, but never made gnocchi because it was too easy to go to the market and getting them. Anyway I’m happy I tried because they were the best gnocchi ever! (and it’s not because of the cooker but because of the recipe), thank you so much
