Top Coat Fixator, Super Base, Minute Quick-Finish all by Mavala

Now for the not-so-glamorous part of doing your own manicure – it’s not only about the colors and the length! If you don’t want your nails to turn yellow from the nail polish, then a base coat is a must. Then, if you want your nail polish to last longer without chipping, you need a top coat to seal it all. But that aside, there so many other products to help you out along the way! Fast dryers to speed up the process (as I said before, my favorite one is from Mavala and is called Minute Quick-Finish), nail hardeners to strengthen your nails  and even nail whiteners, for those who skip out on the base coat!

These are the things we’d rather not buy and spend our time with, but nevertheless, it’s the most important part.

I’ll be honest: I only do step 1 if I have time and/or remember. Step 3 is a *must!* I LUV, LUV, LUV Orly’s “Glosser” for that ‘wet’ look! :)

Is that why my nails always turn yellow? I never use base coat, but I thought it’s because of the bad quality of the nailpolish!

My advice is to always use base coat. I’ve once skipped this step and my nails turned yellow. I had to avoid to be seen without nail polish on for a month or more, because of how unpretty my nails looked naked!

That’s why your polish doesn’t chip. Guess I gotta take that extra step!

  4. I always use base & top coats. They make a great difference! I usually use Revlon or OPI. I’ve never seen Mavala here in Canada but I’ll keep an eye out for it now.
I read that the American Apparel nail polish is pretty good too:

I’ve heard a lot of great things about Revlon polishes! I should try it. I also will be looking for AA polishes abroad, as I haven’t seen them in Sweden. The colors they have are really nice=)

This is exactly why my nails are never done… so much effort do it the right way :)

Excuse my ignorance :) … could you tell me what is the difference between top coat fixator and finish quick minute (I use this, thanks to your blog <3, and it's great!) In which order they apply? xox from Argentina.
